Hello! My name is Ryan Gates, and I am The Emerald Dragon.
Creativity has always been a part of my life and my soul. Ever since I first discovered the fantastic world of cartoons as a child, I have been in awe of the amazing stories, morals, and teaching ability of the animated cartoon. Life has come at me hard in some aspects, but has been much more amicable in others. I have managed to retain my childlike sense of wonder because of this, and also have grown into a capable and well educated adult alongside. This sense of wonder has been tempered and refined by over twenty years of illustration, animation, and character development, to produce the blazing soul that now seeks his place among those who inspired him so many years before!
Now, after years of absorbing life's wisdom alongside new techniques, I have continued development through Harmony, Animate, Clip Studio Pro, and Storyboard Pro. I have been providing Storyboards to a local animation company here for their pilot episode, and know I have both the artistic skill, speed, and cinematic eye to be a true success in the fast paced industry of today. I now seek to pour my heart and soul into the world and help teach the next generations what they need to know. I have been following many of the wonderful works that are being produced today, and can be flexible, adaptable, and even a leader when needed.
Joining this industry would allow me to keep sharpening my skills, aim my soul towards my truest target in life, and forge my future once again through hard work, dedication, and an unrivaled passion for making the world a better place, one panel at a time! I have been honing my skills for over two decades now, and am ready, able, and fired up to go anywhere I am needed most! Let's get things started!

Current Status:
Settled in to San Mateo, CA. After years of Freelance Art and Animation, I have found a full time job working at TechStyles as a Lead Production Artist with screenprinting. I am extremely happy with my newfound career and hope to continue to learn and grow, even if it turns out that my true "calling" wasn't in Comics, Illustration, Video Games, or Animation. I shall continue to draw in my free time and enjoy the latter half of my life with my new career, and we shall see where the winds will take me.
